I know I've talked about this place quite a bit, but after my fourth trip in three weeks, all I can say is "Wow!" Previously, I ordered a cup of tom kah kai which was out of this world. It was almost a thin stew instead of a soup. There were so many items in it which I had never before seen. It was several steps in complexity above any I had previously eaten. Today, they had hot and sour soup on the buffet. It was the hottest and the sourest I had ever had. Like the tom kah kai, it was more complex than any other version I've ever tasted. After tasting the green, yellow, and red varieties, the red curry is the ultimate.

Of course, I've only had time to eat the buffet. However, I finally had a few minutes to read the Gourmet magazine review on the bulletin board. Please do this before you enter so you will get a good idea of what you should try or you might just end up hungry again. All of the reviews point towards the nam kao tod as being simply incredible. Nam kao tod is minced sour pork sausage mixed with green onion, fresh chili, ginger, peanuts, crispy rice, and lime juice. It sounded interesting the first time I saw it; now it is a requirement!

We have a celebratory dinner coming up in a few weeks. I've been obsessing over the idea of potato chips with truffle oil lately, so Delmonicos was at the top of the list, but I might just opt for a grande tour of Lotus' cuisine. Lotus would certainly be cheaper and probably many times more unique. Nothing in Las Vegas is forever. The owners' previous restaurant in Los Angeles, Renu Nakorn, left a hole in the lives of its patrons when it closed. Luckily for us, they moved to Vegas, hopefully for a long, long while, but you never know how things will go in this town. We are lucky enough to have the Best Thai Chef in the USA only a few minutes away and at extremely affordable prices.

How can you go wrong with a place like that?
